연희동 궁동공원 산자락, 자연과 도시 사이에 위치한 기존 건물을 고쳐 지은 집입니다. 1971년 지어진 연와조의 답답한 방들로 구성된 기존 공간을 필요한 만큼만 잘라내 열어주었고, 사계절 쾌적한 공간이 될 수 있도록 외단열의 새 외피를 입혔습니다. 그렇게 고쳐진 집은 주변 풍경과 조화를 이루면서도, 일상의 편안함을 놓치지 않는 새로운 삶의 그릇이 되었습니다. 자연과 도시, 과거와 현재, 개방과 보호 사이의 균형 위에 놓인 이 집은, 작지만 분명한 방식으로 건강한 주거의 가능성을 말해줍니다.
Nestled on the slopes of Gung-dong Park in Yeonhui-dong, this residence is a renovation of an existing structure, situated between nature and the city. The original structure, built in 1971 with dense, brick-walled rooms, was selectively opened up by removing only what was necessary. A new insulated exterior envelope was added to ensure thermal comfort throughout all four seasons.
The renewed home now sits in quiet harmony with its surroundings, offering everyday ease while becoming a new vessel for living. Balancing on the boundary between nature and city, past and present, openness and protection, this small house offers a quiet but compelling vision of what healthy living can be.
